01The plant

What was being treated

A commercial grease trap serving a high-load food preparation kitchen in Wisconsin.

02Before

How the material got there

Fats, oils, grease and suspended solids were arriving faster than the trap could hold them. BOD measured 2,328 mg/L and suspended solids 2,660 — strong enough that every pump-out was charged as high-strength waste, at about $1,029 a service, and services were frequent. Solids rebuilt between cleanings, so conventional maintenance never got ahead of it.

03Treatment

What was applied, and how

A maintenance programme dosing a grease-digesting blend into the trap, so fats were broken down where they sat instead of accumulating to be pumped away. The strains are selected for lipase activity and for staying active in the low-pH, high-grease conditions inside a loaded trap.

Every result in this library was measured at an operating plant treating with one of the formulations SediLogic supplies, over the window stated above. It is a field result published as reported, not a controlled trial we ran.

04Method

How the result was established

BOD, suspended solids and the pump-out charge tracked from the start through three hundred days, with readings at thirty, sixty and a hundred and fifty.

05Outcome

What followed

Most of the movement was early. BOD had roughly halved and suspended solids had fallen to 568 mg/L inside thirty days, with the charge already down to about $376; the last hundred and fifty days moved it comparatively little.

At the start

BOD 2,328 mg/L, suspended solids 2,660 mg/L, about $1,029 a pump-out.

At the close

BOD under 200 mg/L and suspended solids under 230 mg/L, both about 91 per cent down, with the pump-out charge around $20.

06Limits

What this record does not establish.

Three hundred days is long enough for a kitchen's own practice to change, and nothing here records whether it did. Nothing was left untreated. The pumping charge is a billing figure and follows how the hauler prices strength, so it tracks the analysis rather than adding anything to it. No facility is named.

Only the volatile organic fraction of a sludge responds to any of this. Grit, sand, silt, mineral precipitates and plastics remain at any dose, here and everywhere else.

What we would supply

For this duty, in our range.

SediLogic Liquid FOG is the article in the range built for this — a liquid concentrate aimed at fats, oils and grease and dosed into the collection system rather than at a lagoon blanket. A trap takes a metered or poured dose; a sinking solid has nothing to sink to.

SediLogic holds a written dose table for wastewater lagoons and for no other duty, so the planner will not size a trap and we will not guess at one. Tell us the trap, the flow and what it is loaded with, and a quantity is settled with a person.

Your lagoon next

This was measured somewhere else.

A different plant, a different loading and a different sludge. What decides your result is how much of your own accumulation is organic and treatable, and whether the dose is sized against the lagoon in front of us rather than read off this page. Tell us the dimensions and we will size it.
