01How the dose is sized
The dose comes from the manufacturer's own method, applied to your lagoon.
This tool selects a format, screens the lagoon, and sizes the dose — an initial knockdown on the water volume and an ongoing programme on the flow — from the manufacturer’s own dosing method, applied to the numbers you enter and rounded up to whole pails so no application falls short.
A commercial dose has exactly one legitimate source: the manufacturer’s own method for the specific blend, in writing, with a document revision against it. It does not come from a competitor’s calculator, from a case-study quantity worked backwards, or from an industry rule of thumb — none of which know what is in the pack. The figures here are that method, and nothing else.
The cost that comes with it is indicative. It multiplies whole pails by a published pack price that is a distributor list figure rather than a landed cost, so the number you are quoted may differ, and freight, tax and final suitability are settled in the reviewed quote. What the estimate will not do is under-size: an under-dosed order does not read as a sizing error to the operator who bought it, it reads as a product that does not work, and this category has enough of those already.

Common questions about dosing.
How much bacteria does a wastewater lagoon need?
It depends on surface area, the objective, water temperature and how much of the accumulation is actually organic. Any supplier quoting a pounds-per-acre figure before knowing those things is quoting a rule of thumb. Dose rates should come from the manufacturer's written dose table for the specific blend, applied to your lagoon's dimensions, and sized to whole packs so that no application falls short of the confirmed requirement.
Do I need a sludge survey before ordering lagoon bacteria?
Not necessarily, though measurement improves the sizing considerably. Surface area and objective are enough to select a format. Knowing the sludge volume and the volatile fraction is what tells you how much of the accumulation is treatable at all, and whether biological treatment is worth starting. SediLogic does not perform on-site sludge surveys, though it can test a sludge sample you send in; if you already hold figures from a survey, we will use them.
Will bioaugmentation work in my lagoon?
Not in every lagoon. Bioaugmentation digests the volatile organic fraction only, so a lagoon whose accumulation is largely sand, grit, silt or mineral precipitate will not respond meaningfully at any dose. It also performs poorly in a lagoon that is not adequately mixed, since mixing and aeration are complementary to biological treatment rather than alternatives to it. A fixed deadline for recovered capacity is a dredging problem rather than a treatment one.
