SediLogic Liquid Cold

The base liquid's job, in a blend selected to keep working as the water cools. A concentrate for systems that take a metered liquid and that also run cold enough that a standard blend would slow — the same digestion of organic material, carried by strains chosen for low temperatures.

01Why this format

Organic load in liquid-dosed systems running cold

This answers two things at once: a system dosed by liquid, and water cold enough that a standard blend sits idle. Biological activity falls away as water cools, and this blend is selected to keep going further down the range. It is the narrower of the two liquids, and deliberately so — where the water is not genuinely cold, the base liquid does the same work for less, and where the target is a settled blanket a sinking solid is the right vehicle whatever the temperature.

It works in the metered or poured, as the installation allows, and it suits liquid-dosed systems working through cold conditions.

03When not to buy this

When this product is the wrong answer.

  • Your target is the bottom blanket and a solid can be dosed. A dense solid puts organisms at the blanket where the material sits; any liquid, cold-weather or not, disperses through the water column instead.
  • The water is not genuinely cold. The cold-weather blend earns its place only where low temperatures would stall a standard product; in warmer water the base liquid does the same work for less.
  • The target is an accumulated benthic sludge blanket. A liquid introduced at the surface disperses through the column rather than concentrating on the blanket, which is the whole reason the sinking solid exists.

04Microbiology

What the organisms actually do to the material.

The mechanism is enzymatic hydrolysis. Bacillus species secrete enzymes into their surroundings that break large organic molecules into fragments small enough to be taken up and metabolised. The organisms are not consuming sludge directly; they are releasing the tools that take it apart.

Why Bacillus, and why a dry format costs nothing

Bacillus is the single most important bacterial source of exactly these enzymes, proteases in particular. It also forms endospores — a dormant state that survives drying, heat and time essentially intact, then germinates on contact with water and food. For this job the organisms that do the work are precisely the ones that dry best, which is why the two lead formats are dry and why that costs nothing biologically. Nitrifying organisms are the opposite case: they do not survive drying at all, which is why no dry product can address an ammonia permit.

What the published work supports

Mixtures of protease, cellulase and lipase reduce total suspended solids by 30 to 50 per cent and improve settling, with protease and cellulase together outperforming either alone. One controlled study reported 33 per cent volatile suspended solids reduction.
