01The plant

What was being treated

The primary aerated cell of a municipal lagoon works, a little over 255 by 270 feet at the water line.

02Before

How the material got there

Decades of loading had left just over five feet of accumulated solids across the cell, assessed at 2,365 dry tons, with fats, oils and grease through the accumulation. A dredge would have cleared it and the plant did not want to pay for one.

03Treatment

What was applied, and how

Dosed from a boat over twenty-four weeks, drawn from a 55-gallon drum through a liquid-and-air delivery system so the material was carried into the water rather than left on the surface.

Every result in this library was measured at an operating plant treating with one of the formulations SediLogic supplies, over the window stated above. It is a field result published as reported, not a controlled trial we ran.

04Sizing

What the quantity was set against

The opening quantity was set against the cell's volume, and the doses that followed against average daily flow. Both are bases rather than rates — your own lagoon is sized in the dosing planner and nowhere else.

05Method

How the result was established

Depth readings across the cell, converted to dry tons. A microscopic examination of the mixed liquor was run at the close.

06Outcome

What followed

31.8 inches of accumulation gone at better than an inch a week, and the dredge deferred rather than ruled out — the inert fraction is still on the bottom and no dose reaches it.

At the start

5.08 ft average accumulated depth, 2,365 dry tons, grease through the accumulation.

At the close

2.65 ft average depth, 1,340 dry tons remaining, and a microscopic examination reported the plant working normally with low suspended solids.

07Limits

What this record does not establish.

Nothing was left untreated to compare against, so the share of the reduction owed to the product rather than to a warm season under aeration cannot be separated out. The volatile fraction of the accumulation at the start is not recorded either, which is the number that would say how much of the 2,365 dry tons could ever have responded.

Only the volatile organic fraction of a sludge responds to any of this. Grit, sand, silt, mineral precipitates and plastics remain at any dose, here and everywhere else.
