SediLogic Maintain, concentrated. The same water-soluble pouch aimed at the water column, built to roughly ten times the standard concentration — so a large lagoon's programme arrives in a fraction of the pails to ship, store and handle.
01Why this format
General organic load on large systems
On a big system a standard-strength programme runs to a lot of pails, and most of that weight is carrier rather than organisms. A concentrate delivers the same organisms in far less material. That is a freight-and-handling saving, not a stronger product: the lagoon still responds only to its volatile fraction, and that ceiling does not move with concentration. It does the water-column job — for an established benthic blanket the dense sinking solid is still the tool, at any concentration. Because it earns its place on volume, a concentrate order is confirmed with a person rather than sized in the planner.
It works in the water column, and it suits a large lagoon where standard pouch counts get unwieldy.

03When not to buy this
Three situations where this product is the wrong answer.
- The system is small enough that standard Maintain pouches are already a manageable pail count. The concentrate earns its place on volume; below that it is simply a larger unit to buy.
- There is an established sludge blanket to knock down. A soluble pouch disperses through the water column, and reaching a blanket several feet down is the dense sinking solid's job — concentration does not change that.
- An ammonia or nitrogen permit is the actual problem. Nitrifying bacteria do not survive drying, so no dry product, concentrated or not, can address nitrification.
The dosing planner screens for all three and will say so rather than routing you to a quotation.
04Microbiology
What the organisms actually do to the material.
The mechanism is enzymatic hydrolysis. Bacillus species secrete enzymes into their surroundings that break large organic molecules into fragments small enough to be taken up and metabolised. The organisms are not consuming sludge directly; they are releasing the tools that take it apart.

Why Bacillus, and why a dry format costs nothing
Bacillus is the single most important bacterial source of exactly these enzymes, proteases in particular. It also forms endospores — a dormant state that survives drying, heat and time essentially intact, then germinates on contact with water and food. For this job the organisms that do the work are precisely the ones that dry best, which is why the two lead formats are dry and why that costs nothing biologically. Nitrifying organisms are the opposite case: they do not survive drying at all, which is why no dry product can address an ammonia permit.
What the published work supports
Mixtures of protease, cellulase and lipase reduce total suspended solids by 30 to 50 per cent and improve settling, with protease and cellulase together outperforming either alone. One controlled study reported 33 per cent volatile suspended solids reduction.
